Matt Falt’s information about gun laws (2 1-3-09) is wrong.
Automatic weapons have never been available in Australia, and semi-auto weapons were banned here in 1996.
Johnny Howard’s $500 million was well spent: gun crime has gone up 450 per cent.
I bet the gangbangers and bikies didn’t hand their guns in, as gun laws only restrict law-abiding citizens’ rights.
Australian gun laws are among the tightest in the world, but this doesn’t stem the flow of the reported 15,000 illegal firearms imported by crims every year.
