SSAA Northern Rivers open day to highlight sport shooting

The Northern Rivers branch of the Sporting Shooters Association will hold an open day at the Casino Rifle Range on Sunday.
The open day, which aims to encourage the uninitiated to try the sport of shooting, will allow people without a firearms licence to try out the different shooting disciplines.
There will be full supervision and tuition provided for shotgun, rifle and pistol events.
A spokesman for the association said those wanting to give the sport of shooting a try should wear covered footwear on the day ear protection will be provided.
The open day will run from 930am to 2pm and there will be a barbecue lunch and drinks available at the rifle range.
Cost is $10 for adults with juniors 12 to 17 years free.
All unlicensed participants must bring identification and successfully complete a p650 form before they can take part.
Juniors must have permission from a parent or guardian, with parents to provide photo identification.
Those attending the open day will be able to try out Rimfire Rifle, Rimfire Pistol, Western Action Rimfire Pistol and Lever Action Rifle, Military Rifle, Simulated Field and Game Shotgun and Muzzleloading Black Powder Rifle events.
