Sporting chance at winning cook book

Eat blog, Quest Community Newspapers online, March 6, 2009, 12.11pm

Vegetarians might want to look away for a minute as we’re about to step into meat-eating territory here.
A copy of the Sporting Shooters’ Association of Australia’s new recipe book - SSAA’s Cooks Companion has landed on my desk.
Now, growing up in New Zealand, I experienced my fair share of fishing and hunting trips as a young’un, but it’s not something I pursue these days, so I’m setting this book free to find its rightful home.
The book, listing recipes for “free range meals” from association members, has sections on rabbit, duck and quail, pork, goat, venison, kangaroo and seafood.
Just glancing through, there are some great-looking recipes here - like campfire duck in a camp oven or crockpot, duck risotto, venison pies and Cooktown chilli prawns.
There are also “camp extras” where you’ll find recipes for hunter’s damper, Alf’s jungle muffins and several others.
So if you, or someone you know, might like this book, simply add your comment below and I’ll draw a random winner on March 13.
Alternatively, the book is available for $29.95 from the association. Visit www.ssaa.org.au
