ABC 774 Melbourne (Melbourne), Mornings, 31/12/2008 08:51am
Interview with Nick Roberts, spokesperson, Victorian National Parks Association. Harper notes that the Victorian Government has announced new national parks on the Murray, Goulburn and Ovens Rivers to preserve river red gums. Roberts explains the parks are the result of four years of investigation. He notes protests over the Barmah Forest no longer being available for cattle grazing. Roberts discusses recreational shooting still being allowed in the parks. He says there will be water quality benefits lower down the Murray from removing cattle grazing. Roberts says there needs to be a commitment to environmental flows.
