Gun laws not to blame for this death

I am not a supporter of relaxed gun laws but for David Jordan (Letters, December 18) to link the killing of Melissa Cook with the recent watering down of the laws is a falsehood. This was an unregistered, illegal firearm, one that tighter gun laws would have done nothing to prevent falling in the hands of the killer.
