Interview with the executive officer of Bundaberg Fruit and Vegetable Growers on culling fruit bats and how farmers’ do care about the humaneness of the operation. Peter Peterson says no farmer would ever entertain the idea of leaving an animal injured. Peterson says culling is absolutely necessary for the profitability of the industry and to keep retail prices steady, some farmers’ are losing up to 50 per cent of their crops.
