Fox and cat numbers threat to Mallee fowl
ABC Mildura Swan Hill (Mildura), Breakfast - Early, 18/12/2008 07:26am
Interview with Adrian Meen, Mallee fowl enthusiast, regarding a little baby Mallee fowl. Meen says that it is a shame that a lot of people high up in the Department of Sustainability and Environment don’t witness how wonderful the Mallee fowl chicks are. Meen says that when the area of land Meen spots Mallee fowl on was run as a grazing property, people would shoot foxes and cats resulting in fewer predatory animals. However, since it has been taken over by National Parks, no-one culls the fox or cat population, which means that there is increasing pressure on native species in the area.
