Caller Simon says there is a lot of misinformation about firearms. A minor from aged 12-18 can own a permit but cannot own a firearm of any kind. He says Samantha Lee, co-chair of National Coalition for Gun Control, is ‘fudging’, as NSW law states that you cannot own firearm until you have a proper licence and a permit is not a licence. He says teenagers shooting at a club get good discipline, as it is strictly controlled. Ball remembers in cadets shooting, but under strict military supervision. He says his grandson is in the air cadets and that young people get proper instruction and are more responsible and can go on to be Olympic shooter.
