Re: The Carry Gebhardt story (“The roo shooter”, 9/11). People seem to forget that life in the wild is tough and cruel. Any weak animal will be killed by a stronger one; overpopulation is solved by starvation.
Anyone who thinks roo shooting is cruel refuses to see past the “Disney” view of a pretty and idyllic bushland of peace and harmony.
Shooting kangaroos is a tough and bloody job but there are worse fates for animals in the bush.
Anyone concerned for the welfare of our native animals should get a rifle and gun licence and spend all their spare time shooting feral animals such as cats, dogs and foxes.
