Feral cat bounty open in Western Queensland
ABC Western Queensland (Longreach), 06:30 News, 10/11/2008 06:32am
A $10 bounty on feral cats is now being offered in parts of western Queensland. The natural resource management group, Desert Channels Qld, says feral cats are becoming a growing environmental problem and a new project has begun to help control the pests. Brett Carlson, Coordinator, says seven councils in the region are assisting with the project, which will pay kangaroo shooters for every feral cat they destroy. DCQ will also provide councils with traps and cat owners are offered a 50 per cent rebate to have their pet cats de-sexed.
