SA firearm laws being reviewed
ABC Riverland SA (Renmark), Morning Show, 17/09/2008 09:07am
Compere Bronwen Wade replays yesterday's debate on the difficulty in moving guns from state to state. She mentions the response to the ABC's letter to the SA Minister for Police Michael Wright about the firearms law, which says people are required to take a two-day TAFE course on firearms law, as well as adhere to instructions and practical testing on the safe handling and use of firearms. However, the Registrar of Firearms Branch can provide certain exemptions on the grounds of prior learning. It says the SA Government is currently reviewing the Firearms Act with an advisory group being established consisting of stakeholder groups such as sporting shooters, firearms collectors, farmer federations, as well as SAPOL.
