Curtis Island National Park closed for pest management program

The Curtis Island National Park camping grounds shall be closed for one week as a pest management program is taking place. Interview with Dave Orgill who says the national park stretches along the east coast of the island, the conservation park is in the middle and along the west coast is state forest land. Orgill says feral pigs, goats as well as rats and foxes need to be eradicated to preserve the precious wildlife on the island. Orgill also says feral pigs dig up vegetation and turn soil that disturbs the reed beds the yellow chats habitat, who are only found in Central Queensland. Orgill adds that other pests basically disturb species’ natural processes.
