Flinders Ranges feral goats linked to Waikerie abattoir closure
ABC North & West SA (Port Pirie), 07:30 News, 02/09/2008 07:32am
An increase in feral goat numbers in the Flinders Ranges has been linked in part with last year's closure of the Waikerie abattoir. Watkins says the goats have been trapped to the park and abattoir for processing, but that market doesn't exist after the outbreak of Q Fever last year led to the closure of the abattoir. The Vulkathunha-Gammon Ranges National Park has been closed for goat culling and protecting the endangered yellow-footed rock wallaby.
