Shooting the fair sports
Herald Sun, Page: 22, Thursday, 13 March, 2008
The huge increase in fees related to the shooting sports (“Shooter fury on fee rise”, March 12) is sadly reminiscent of the former Cain government’s total removal of the 75 per cent discount for pensioners’ shooting licences in the 1980s.
This fiscal savagery against both old and young by a Labor Government is disgusting, as shooting is one of the only sports suitable for ages 12 to 80.
Remember, no shooting club has been known to ritually introduce its junior members to alcohol, binge drinking, violence or assaults.
Must shooters emulate footballers before our sport gets fair government treatment?
