Police integrity officers in Victoria will soon carry guns under new laws to be introduced to State Parliament today.
Victorian Police Minister Bob Cameron said that changes to the Office of Police Integrity (OPI) legislation would allow corruption fighters to be armed with guns and capsicum spray.
Other changes aimed at boosting the OPI’s powers include separating the OPI legislation to stand alone as law, rather than as part of broader police legislation.
