The Sporting Shooters' Association of Australia

The Disciplines Issue - Junior Sporting Shooters

Most disciplines within the SSAA have a junior component so if you are keen to shoot a particular discipline, make contact with your relevant chairman. National or state championships are run in conjunction with particular disciplines and all juniors are separated into two categories: those up to 15 years and those from 15 to 18 years of age.

The Junior Sporting Shooters section holds two Postal Competitions per year. The 2007 Postal Competitions are:

National Junior Rimfire Rifle Silhouette Postal Championship
February 1 to June 30, 2007 inclusive.
Verified score-sheets need to be received by the end of July.

National Junior Rimfire Field Rifle Postal Championship
July 1 to October 31, 2007 inclusive.
No targets need to be sent, only simple scores of each position and a breakdown of the number of 10s, nines, etc, in each position in case there is a need for countbacks. Verified scores need to be received by November 10.

The usual two National Junior Postals will be conducted in 2007, but there will be an added bonus for participation offered: every entry in the Silhouette Postal goes into the draw to win a Deluxe SSAA Swag or one of two SSAA Hydration Kits courtesy of SSAA Merchandise, and every entry in the Field Rifle Postal also goes into a draw to win a Deluxe SSAA Swag or one of two SSAA Hydration Kits.

All Junior Sporting Shooters members are encouraged to participate in the 2007 Postal Championships and should ensure that along with their score-sheets, that their age is included as trophies are awarded in the Under 15 Junior Section, as well as in the 15 to Under 18 Junior section.
