GPS goes tough with Garmin Montana touchscreen
Garmin has launched the Montana, its most advanced handheld GPS device yet. Proving that when the going gets tough, Garmin can keep going and going, the Montana combines Garmin’s trusted features in a rugged design that can keep up with the wildest adventurer.
The multimode Montana comes complete with a responsive 4" touchscreen, 5-megapixel camera, several mounting and battery options, dual orientation, extensive screen layout options and support for a wide range of mapping data.
Preloaded with TOPO Australia and New Zealand mapping, and complete with routable road content and turn-by-turn driving instructions, the Montana is designed to lead you out of the bush and through the urban jungle, all while sitting snugly in its powered car mount or optional rugged mount for your four-wheel drive or motorcycle.
“Montana was designed with the ‘get dirty, go hard then go home’ crowd in mind, who are always after an adventure,” said Ian Edwards, national sales manager of Garmin Australasia. “From navigating waterways in your boat and traversing national parks in your four-wheel drive, to hiking and even receiving spoken turn-by-turn directions on the way to the football field, Montana will take you anywhere and everywhere.”
The Montana’s rugged design gives you the freedom to tackle every adventure. Fully waterproof, the Montana will withstand all the mud and grit you can throw at it, so you’ll have no excuse to hold back. Complete with a barometric altimeter, the Montana is also capable of elevation and route profiling.
But the fun doesn’t end on dry land with Garmin’s Montana. With full support of Garmin’s detailed marine charts, BirdsEye Satellite Imagery (subscription required) and Custom Maps, your Montana will take you anywhere imaginable.
Montana’s 5-megapixel digital camera, with automatic geotagging, lets you take a little bit of your adventure home with you. While you are out searching for your next cache or trekking through untouched wilderness, snap and view pictures in landscape or portrait orientation. For more storage, insert a microSD card; you can even view pictures from other devices on microSD with Montana’s picture viewer.
With stamina to match even the toughest weekend warrior, the Montana won’t tire at your side. With the option of the included 16-hour lithium ion battery or 22 hours from three AA batteries (not included), your device will remain powered during remote hunting trips and overnight fishing adventures. With full support of geocaching GPX files, you can download geocaches and details to your device from OpenCaching.com, which means no more paper print outs or having to manually enter coordinates.
The Montana is Garmin’s toughest, most versatile, fully-featured GPS unit yet, all cased in a rugged design, so you’ll have the option to take your Montana on the water, across dry land and in the car. With a 4" touchscreen, endless display and mapping choices, you’ll never want to, or need to be without your Montana.
