Oricom’s trim and tough UHF radios

Oricom is set to inspire adventure this holiday season with the release of two new in-vehicle UHFs that are slim in profile, but robust and solid in performance.

The UHF100 is a remote head 5.0-watt UHF CB unit that is so trim (30x110x29) it can be attached easily to the most cluttered of dashes. Its compact transceiver (135x110x29) is robust and can be easily installed in tight spaces. The external heat-sink cools quickly, ensuring the radio maintains the highest possible output power.

The UHF200 controller speaker microphone removes the need for a head unit at all. With all the radio’s controls placed in the microphone, the UHF200 is instinctive to use with exceptional sound quality. Again, its transceiver is ultra compact.

“We pride ourselves on our ability to deliver solid UHF radios of superior quality that are priced for everyday use, like our new UHF100 and UHF200”, explains Oricom managing director Kevin McDonnell.

“They will make a great Christmas gift for the adventure-minded this year.”

Both models will be available nationally from October through radio specialists and leading automotive accessory stores. The UHF100 will retail for around $379 and the UHF200 for $429. Sold with a three-year warranty, both models are 5.0 watts (max TX power), offer wide band scanner (400-512MHz) with over 8500 receive frequencies and 200 programmable receive-only channels. They each have a 5-digit Selcall ID with alpha display, open/group scan, digital squelch control, busy channel lockout, CTCSS/DCS and duplex (range extender). They both have tri-colour backlit LCD displays (amber/red/green) and are housed in a rugged chassis with integrated heat-sink.
