A pictorial history of Ruger and their firearms

Sturm, Ruger & Company was founded by William B Ruger and Alexander McCormick Sturm in 1949 in a small rented machine shop in Southport, Connecticut, USA. That year, Sturm and Ruger produced the company’s .22 self-loading pistol, then called the Standard pistol. Now, in 2009, Sturm, Ruger & Co (Ruger) celebrates its 60th year in the gun-making business and they are going along as strongly as ever.
