Reinventing handheld GPS with free Raster Mapping
Reinventing the handheld GPS, the Magellan Triton series GPS for the Outdoor market is the first of its kind in Australia having Raster Mapping availability. Included with the Triton 400/500/1500/2000 models is Magellan’s Explore Australia National Parks raster maps and Geoscience Australia 1:250,000 Nat Map series. It also includes VantagePoint software to manage and upload detailed maps, user generated content, updates and upgrades on your PC. You can view your saved routes and tracks, as well as customise them for future trips or create new ones.
Raster maps have the look and feel of paper maps, bringing all the shaded colors and relief associated with your favourite maps. They are great for bushwalkers and active people in the outdoors.
Magellan, with their mapping partner and distributor Next Destination Pty Ltd, has produced two sets of maps for use on the Tritons. The first is a series of individual maps of all the national parks of Australia as produced by Explore Australia. A total of 100 maps covering all states and territories are included on the SD card. The second is the Geoscience Australia 1:250,000 Nat Map series covering the whole country.
The Triton user has a straight out-of-the-box mapping experience, with both sets of raster maps included in the price of the units. As well as the raster mapping included with the Magellan Tritons, it's easy to expand your navigation capabilities, with optional topographic maps (DiscoverAus Topo and DiscoverAus Outback Tourer by Hema Maps, plus Camps Australiawide and Bicycling Australia), marine cartography and other applications. The Discover Aus maps allow the user to see much more detail when zoomed in.
Additional advanced features include a touch screen, 2MP camera, audio and video capability, LED torch, three-axis electronic compass and built-in barometer. Rugged and waterproof, your Triton is built to withstand intense use, accidental impact and immersion in 1m of water for up to 30 minutes (IPX-7). It's ready to guide you across any terrain in the great outdoors.
Touch-screen technology makes it easy to use all the advanced features. View the elevation profile for the trail ahead (or any route) or even the track you just travelled. See the precise time of sunrise/sunset any day of the year.
Triton is built on the experience of GPS users and nearly 20 years of precision positioning technology from Magellan - the first to bring detailed mapping to Australia and now the first to bring raster mapping to Australia.
Magellan products are distributed in Australia by Next Destination Pty Ltd. For more information, visit their website at www.nextdestination.com.au
