LeDitSee LED caps
Caps that are fitted with small LED lights are not new in this country and are usually of the type where the actual lighting unit can be removed when required. These lights are usually powered with small batteries, but give a useful amount of light and provide a hands-free situation. However, JS Enterprises now produces a cap that has the LED set-up enclosed in the brim of the hat at the very front.
This 100 per cent cotton cap is manufactured in Finland and is indeed of a high standard. It is adjustable for size via a metal clasp. The front of the peak and the flap on the battery cover are made from light reflective material, so if you drop the cap in the dark, it can be easily identified with a quick sweep of a torch. Good thinking there.
Eight super-bright LEDs are moulded into the front of the brim, with a concealed power lead heading back to a pouch at the rear. This pouch contains a replaceable 9-volt battery, so that there is plenty of power available to drive the lighting department. It is claimed that up to 50 hours of use is available using this set-up. One can choose two, four or all eight LEDs to be operating by using a simple push-switch hidden in the peak of the cap.
When the light is activated, you will be amazed at just how much light there was on full power. It is stated that there is a combined luminosity rating 132,000mcd to 160,000mcd depending upon how many LEDs are lit at the time.
The cap is handy for a night out spotlighting, especially to retrieve downed game, and would work a treat for an overnight spotlighting expedition too.
Quality comes at a price and these caps sell for just less than $75. At the moment, they can be purchased on special for $64.95, including two 9-volt batteries. They are available in black or blaze orange, with or without the JS Enterprises logo.
