Bushman Brooks - Hunting The High Country is a new Aussie adventure featuring a classic Aussie character, Dave ‘Bushman’ Brooks.
This is like no other hunting video you have ever seen. It is not just another “shoot and kill” movie, but a weekend away in the Australian bush. Bushman Brooks takes you off the beaten track to show you how a real bowhunter tracks and stalks feral goats.
Bushman Brooks shares his knowledge, experience and skills in animal tracking, camouflage, stalking, bush tucker, survival and fire lighting and gives you an insight into what he loves about bowhunting and what it takes to be a good hunter.
12 months ago two best friends, Dave Brooks and Dave Eggins, began producing an Australian Bowhunting DVD. ‘We hadn't seen a quality hunting video come out of Australia, so we thought, why don't we just make one?’ says producer Dave Eggins. The duo received a positive response from a pilot DVD and so rose the bar to make this full-length feature.
Dave Eggins only has high praise for his mate, ‘he's not Steve Irwin, the Bush Tucker Man or Crocodile Dundee… he'’s a bit of all of those, he's Bushman Brooks. I knew that my skills in film, sound and music would be able to showcase Dave's skills in the bush’. Dave Eggins filmed and edited the video as well as wrote and recorded the soundtrack.
Dave Brooks is a skilled and ethical hunter and has achieved outstanding results in 3D archery competitions. The DVD encourages bowhunters to hone their skills in an effort make one shot count every time. ‘If you are going to be a bowhunter, put the hard yards in, and make sure you've got the accuracy to back yourself up’.
Dave Brooks has been bowhunting for 16 years and never gets tired of it. ‘It's a way of life for me, it's not a fad, it's not a hobby, it's just something I've got to do to survive, I reckon’ says Dave.
