Winchester and Browning enter firearms license agreement
Winchester is pleased to announce the establishment of a long-term licensing agreement with Browning for the manufacture and distribution of Winchester-branded rifles and shotguns.
“With this new agreement, Winchester is confident that Browning will produce innovative firearms worthy of the Winchester name, continuing a tradition that people around the world associate with the Winchester brand,” said Richard Hammett, president of Winchester Ammunition USA. “We are proud of our heritage as The Gun That Won the West and consider this arrangement as entering a new era for the legendary Winchester firearms brand.”
Charles Guevremont, president of Browning America, is equally optimistic and excited about the opportunity to continue the production and distribution of Winchester Firearms.
“We are more committed today than ever before to the development of exciting new Winchester firearm designs,” said Mr Guevremont. “We will continually strive to build the quality products that generations of loyal Winchester customers have come to expect and will be proud to own and use for decades to come.”
The announcement ends months of speculation in the marketplace over which company or consortium group might secure the rights to market firearms under the famous Winchester Horse & Rider logo, following the closure of the New Haven Connecticut, US Repeating Arms Company in March this year.
Details regarding the models to form the new Winchester firearms range and their future base of manufacture are yet to be released; however, we will endeavour to keep you informed of new developments as they come to hand. Representatives from Winchester Australia will travel to Browning and Winchester’s joint sales conference in Ogden, Utah, USA, at the end of October, where we anticipate the specifics of the new licensing agreement to be presented in greater detail.
