Nioa Defence
Brisbane-based firearms and ammunition wholesaler, Nioa Trading, has undertaken a significant expansion with the launching of a new business unit branded ‘Nioa Defence’.
Nioa Defence, located in Melbourne, will be headed by the recently-appointed general manager, Patrick Whitty.
Mr Whitty has a 23-year history with ADI Limited (Australian Defence Industries) and leaves his current role as Acting General Manager of Marketing and Product Development, ADI (Land - Ordnance) to head the new venture.
Nioa Trading’s Managing Director Robert Nioa said the formation of Nioa Defence signals a significant increase in commitment by the company to the Military and Law Enforcement markets.
“Nioa Defence will provide the platform to build on our existing successes within the Australian market and expand our activity in the Pacific Rim”, Mr Nioa said.
Holding a degree in Engineering (Chemistry) and a Masters of Management, Mr Whitty adds a considerable technical capacity to the company. He also has considerable experience in ammunition, explosives and firearms manufacture, as well as Australian Department of Defence contractual management expertise.
Nioa Trading Law Enforcement and Military Sales Manager of several years, Greg Toms, an expert armourer and qualified gunsmith, will assume the position of Sales Manager for Nioa Defence.
“Placing people with exceptional technical capabilities in the senior positions of Nioa Defence allows us to provide a very comprehensive level of service to both the companies we represent and the customers that we support,” Mr Nioa said.
While Nioa Defence will be located near Australian Department of Defence procurement facilities in Melbourne, logistics will continue to be provided at the company’s state-of-the-art, high security warehouse, storage and distribution facility in Brisbane. The facility has recently been expanded to provide storage to military standards for up to 30,000 longarms, bulk dangerous goods (explosives) warehousing and small arms test-firing capabilities.
Nioa Defence proudly represents General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products, Rheinmetall Weapons and Munitions, ARGES, BUCK, NICO Pyrotechnik, Silberhütte, Federal ATK, GLOCK, Leupold, Bushmaster Firearms, EOTech, Peltor, Laser Devices Inc, Atlantic Research Marketing Systems Inc (ARMS), selected Armor Holdings divisions and several other specialist suppliers.
