Welcome to Australian Hunter 29. This issue showcases just some of the many amazing and varied hunting opportunities available to hunters both here in Australia and abroad.
First up is Leon Wright’s ‘A mixed hunt’ where he shares with us his duck and fox hunting adventures. Next, we tackle fallow deer, sambar, donkeys, camels and other species introduced to Australia. Warren McKay then takes us far up north, all the way to Mongolia, to hunt the world renowned Altai ibex.
In Practical Hunting, Peter Bindon teaches us 10 knots for a number of security, safety and survival purposes, while David Bremstaller discusses the importance of staying well hydrated in the field.
In our Camp Kitchen section, new contributor Christopher Taylor shows us five ways to cook rabbit. Between these tasty recipes and those in the SSAA’s Cooks Companion, you’ll see just how versatile the humble bunny really is.
We finish off this issue with a suspenseful fictional story by Anthony Tammett in ‘Snowy Mountains legends’.
Lastly, don’t forget to enter this issue’s competitions to win one of two hunting knives or a deer hunter’s book pack.
Enjoy all that Australian Hunter 29 has to offer and until next time, good hunting.
