Welcome to Hunter 22. On the cover of this edition you will see we have chosen to feature Beaconsfield mine disaster survivor Todd Russell. Todd has been a willing and enthusiastic ambassador for hunting in Australia and for Hunter magazine and it is always good to see an everyday man (who also happens to be a local hero) stand up for himself and for the rest of us and let it be known that he hunts. Hunting is, after all, part of our heritage and none of us should have to shirk away from it.

No doubt, Todd has received some curry for allowing us to publicise his love of hunting and the outdoors. Indeed, I’m sure all of us have received a raised eyebrow or two when we’ve mentioned our pastime. But Todd’s visible and recognisable public image should give us less famous, but equally determined, hunters the courage to talk about and promote our love for our recreation, whether it is around the barbecue, the bar or the water cooler.
