World Champion Ladies visit WA Single Action Shooting

by Rolf ‘Cheyenne Bodie’ Muraru, SSAA WA Single Action State Delegate

Southern Districts Rifle Club in Perth was proud to have been visited by Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association’s World Champion Ladies and Senior Ladies, Tammy Scronce and Jan Nolte, on December 2 last year. Cowboy Mounted Shooting is the fastest-growing equine sport in the United States and is not for the fainthearted.

Tammy is an ex-Perth girl who went to the US nine years ago to pursue her love of working with horses. In Texas, she met Matt Scronce, who runs a 26,000-acre ranch in Texas and who is the Men’s World Champion. They married two years ago.

On holidays in Perth for the first time in nine years, Tammy and Jan wanted to see how we ran our Single Action shoots and made a date to visit SDRC. The day was a huge success, with many questions on the differences between Single Action shooting and Cowboy Mounted shooting.

Tammy also donated a couple of pairs of leather roping cuffs, handcrafted by John Kaye Products, Texas.
