Scottsdale is a small town in north-east Tasmania, which, in recent times, has suffered industry closures, so when the population temporarily experienced an influx of SSAA members for the SSAA National and Tasmania State Lever Action Championships from October 1 to 4, 2010, the local business sector certainly welcomed them. Indeed, competitors travelled from far and wide, from local shooters, to those from Western Australia, Queensland, New South Wales and the ACT.

The shooters were blessed with sunshine for the four days of competition too. A good number of members spent time before and after the Championships visiting various parts of the state and for some, it was their first experience playing in the Highlands snow.

In total, some 30 shooters participated in shooting events each day, with the overriding factor of success being due to the nucleus of the Scottsdale Branch for the range and canteen facilities and also the willingness to help given by those who gave up part, if not all, of their rest time to assist with range duties. Thanks go to Rae Wilkins and Val Endersby in particular for scoring all the targets, which included some very tight groups.

Thanks also go to major sponsors Co-Op Toyota (Tasmania), Total Solutions Eng P/L (Queensland) and the SSAA Store, as well as R Tunks (Tasmania), BG Firearms (Tasmania), Wiz Bang Firearms (Tasmania), South Eastern Firearms (Tasmania), Scottsdale Sports Store (Tasmania), Cleaver Firearms (Queensland), Elks Hunting and Fishing (Albury, NSW) and Winchester Australia.
