Once again Laurie Cook, Muzzleloading Deputy Discipline Chairman, and his team at the Shoalhaven Clay Target Club (SCTC) put on an excellent shoot at the Misty Mountain range. The weather was very good on the Saturday, but windy and damp on the Sunday. The club also provided excellent canteen facilities on the Sunday. My thanks to the workers who set up the traps, scored and manned the canteen on both days.

Some events were closely contested with several tied scores. A healthy group of dedicated shooters tried their luck on both days.  Some had problems with their gun but this is the nature of the sport, especially with firelocks!

Sunday started early with a 25-shot Field and Game Firelock event. It was a very challenging course of fire with competitors taking a few stations to warm up. This was followed by the 50-shot Field and Game Caplock which was shot during wind gusts and light drizzle.

The Ladies aggregate was won by Patricia Hanlon ahead of Jo Wood and Pam McKiernan. It is Patricia’s first win at a State Championship and she continues to improve.

My thanks go to Paul Hamilton, SCTC Secretary, and Laurie Cook for staging this event. Congratulations to the medal winners especially the Top Gun winners.
