The 2010 South Australian SSAA Rifle Metallic Silhouette State Titles (rimfire and centrefire) were hosted by Monarto Metallic Silhouette Rifle Club May 22 & 23. The first event was Rimfire Silhouette (80 shots) with 22 competitors in 4 grades. The weather conditions were reasonable and respectable scores were posted with Phil Stephens (Para) finishing on top. Shoot-offs were required in 3 of the grades to sort out the medal winners. In Centrefire Hunter Craig Andrews (Moonta) lead all shooters, despite some being graded well above him.

Unfortunately the weather on Sunday was cold and very windy which had a significant impact on the scores. Dave McCarthy (Para) was the best of the shooters in Centrefire Silhouette and Mal Strathearn (Monarto) was one target clear at the end of Rimfire Hunter class. Tracey Pollard (Moonta) was the most consistent shooter in the open events with a clear victory in the 2-gun competition whilst Mal Strathearn won 4-gun.

Overall the event was a great success with 26 shooters competing in at least one event. The Air Rifle events will be held at Para Branch on October 31st. Many thanks to all of the volunteers over the weekend and also to Adelaide Gun Shop for their support.
