MLAIC 12th Pacific Zone Championships 2009
12-16 August 2009
Ontario, Canada
The 2009 MLAIC (Muzzle Loaders Associations International Committee) Pacific Zone Matches were held in Barrie, Ontario, in Canada from August 12 to 16. The Australian, New Zealand and South African teams were invited to compete by postal shoot due to the high cost of getting to Canada for this shoot and then again to next year’s World Championships in Europe.
The Australian team was selected from shooters who attended the SSAA SA State Muzzleloading shoot held in June at the Monarto Range (the venue for last year’s World Championships) along with scores submitted by shooters from all states who shot in a local competition and submitted scores.
Overall, Australia scored:
• An individual gold, silver and bronze in the Laramora (50m offhand rifle-musket) Replica event
• An individual gold in the Kuchenreuter (25m percussion pistol) Replica event
• An individual silver and bronze in the Vetterli (50m offhand percussion rifle) Replica event
• An individual silver in the Cominazzo (25m flintlock pistol) Replica event
• An individual silver in the Whitworth (100m prone percussion target rifle) Replica event
• An individual bronze in the Pennsylvania (50m offhand flint rifle) Replica event
• A team gold in the Forsyth (Kuchenreuter) Replica event
• A team gold in the Pforzheim (Vetterli) event
• A team silver in the Lorenzoni (percussion trap shotgun) Replica event
• A team silver in the Rigby (Whitworth) event
This magnificent result is a continuation of the results that the Australia team obtained at the 2008 World Championships and sets the pace for the next World Championships in Portugal in August 2010. The Australian team swept the pool in the Laramora (50m offhand rifle-musket) Replica event with gold, silver and bronze. The United States are usually very strong in this event, but our scores were world-class. Congratulations team!
