SSAA (NSW) 5-Stand Champion - Reno Morganti The 2009 5-Stand NSW State Titles were held at the Cecil Park Clay Target Club at the Sydney International Shooting Centre on May 30 and 31.

The host club had prepared two excellent 5-Stand layouts after club member Grant Powell had put considerable effort and thought into the positioning of the targets to produce some very interesting targets.

He was ably assisted by Vince Gatt, Andrew Webb and other club members. The SSAA (NSW) Shotgun Trailer provided the third layout and Trailer Manager, Greg Allen, with help from Darren Macartney set up an excellent layout giving competitors at the State Titles an excellent variety of challenging targets.

More than 40 competitors participated in the State Titles with a number of shooters attending on a daily basis to try out this SSAA 5-Stand event. Competitors attended from Mudgee, Wallerawang, Griffith, Hay, Wollongong, Dubbo, Gosford and the Central Coast, the Blue Mountains and around Newcastle and Sydney.

The shoot was generously sponsored by Milperra Marketing and EXPRESS Cartridges, Casella Wines, Griffith and SSAA (NSW) provided engraved State Medallions.

SSAA (NSW) conveyed their appreciation to Vince Gatt, President of Cecil Park Clay Target Club for the support given by the club and its members to enable the successful staging of these State Titles.

At the conclusion of the 150 targets over the two days, the results were:

SSAA (NSW) 5-Stand Champion: Reno Morganti (Sydney) 124/150

AA Grade: Kevin Raymond (Newcastle) 116

A Grade: Leonardo Pelzano (Sydney) 120, Harry Webster (Sydney) 113, Grant Powell (Sydney) 113

B Grade: Andrew Webb (Wallerawang) 106, John Collier (Sydney) 106 (shoot-off), Dean Delaney (Newcastle) 88

C Grade: Elton Chetcuti (Newcastle) 91, Paul Muscat (Sydney) 87, Neale Guy (Sydney) 79

Veterans: Doug Brenton (Sydney) 11, Warren Brown (Griffith) 103, David Brenton (Wollongong) 102

Ladies: Amanda Condron (Newcastle) 77, Amy Buys (Gosford) 75

Juniors U15: Matt Pryce (Newcastle) 85, Taylor Miller (Sydney) 79

From competition points gained at two of the three State Selection Shoots held earlier in the year at Sydney, Griffith and Newcastle and combined with the points obtained from scores at the State Titles the following competitors were named as the 2009 SSAA (NSW) State Team:
