2006 NSW SSAA State Muzzleloading Championships
9-10 September 2006

Ian Hanlon presenting the Bob Doran trophy to
Michael Peterson Class 2 aggregate winner.
Last year’s state titles were held at Taree-Wingham on September
9 - 10, 2006 with many competitors collecting medals, some for the
first time. The Taree-Wingham Branch is to be congratulated for their
running of this event. It was well organised by Richard Gawned, and
Jim and Karen Cross. The conditions on Saturday were very windy which
affected the scores. There were different wind currents for each distance,
a result of gale force winds lashing the coast. Although the range
had some protection from surrounding forest the wind was still a problem.
Some rain on the Saturday afternoon, overnight and the next day also
added to the problems shooters faced.
A close examination of the scores indicated there was some close competition with just a few points separating winners. Bob Doran donated $100 towards a perpetual trophy for the aggregate winner of the Class 2 Traditional Rifle events. This is the event with the most shooters participating on a regular basis.
