Customs consults on weapons controls
Sharpening our Approach to Weapons Controls
In the lead up to the Federal Election 2010, the Government announced that it would implement tougher weapons controls across all States and Territories.
Customs and Border Protection is conducting a consultation process to seek feedback and input on the implementation of the Government’s election commitment.
A key feature of the Government’s commitment is that evidence of legitimate end-use will be required in the future, before certain types of weapons (such as flick knives) can be lawfully imported into Australia.

Submissions in response to this consultation paper are invited from importers, brokers, retailers of weapons and other interested community groups.
